It’s so easy to sing with The Really Big Chorus. You bring your voice and your music and we will provide the rest: world-famous venues, the best choral conductors in the business, the cream of young soloist talent and fully professional orchestras. Whoever you are and wherever you normally sing (even if it’s only on your own), we offer you the opportunity to take part in great choral performances. If you don’t have the time to commit to a regular choir rehearsal, or if your village choir has only 17 people and no tenors, how can you experience the power of Verdi’s Requiem or the excitement of Orff’s Carmina Burana? Nor do we expect you to attend lots of rehearsals. While we might ask you to do some homework on your own, we normally have only one short rehearsal on the day of the concert and, for Messiah from Scratch, no rehearsal at all! You find your seat in the Royal Albert Hall and at 7 o’clock the orchestra starts. It’s an uplifting and exhilarating experience which draws people back year after year.
Furthermore, we aim to raise money for other good causes at all our concerts, especially at the Royal Albert Hall, where our partner charities regularly collect between £5,000 and £10,000 from programmes, donations and sponsorship. The British Heart Foundation has worked with us regularly since 1980, and more recent partners have been the Leukaemia Research Fund and the Alzheimer’s Society. In the summer of 2010 we will welcome a new charity partner: St John Ambulance.
